    Hanes Erie Goes to Four Day Week To Save Energy

    In another striking move to help their employees stretch the dollars spent on gas for their cars, Hanes Erie, Inc. will change manufacturing/production working hours to four days per week and ten hours per day (7:00 am to 5:30 pm). This will eliminate driving to the plant on Fridays for the majority of the plant production workers. The gasoline saved will be substantial and over the course of one year it could be thousands of gallons of saved fuel.

    Statement on Printing Inks and Food Packaging

    From the onset, it is essential to distinguish between package designs where the ink is intended to come into direct food contact and those where direct food contact between the printing ink film and the foodstuff is neither intended nor expected.     Hanes Erie, Inc., an ISO 14001:2004(E) Registered Company salutes another ISO 14001 company: Limited Brands received an Environmental Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay Transport Partnership for its leadership in conserving energy and lowering greenhouse gas emissions from its transportation and freight activities.
